ETN DISCUSSION BOARD The ETN Discussion Board is established to:
Registration Forums and posted discussions on the ETN Discussion Board can be viewed by the general public. However, you have to be a registered user to post messages and access to other functions such as subscribing to periodic topic digests. To register, click here. After registration, the user can log-in to the ETN Discussion Board lobby and click on the "User Menu" link to make user level function choices. Examples of choices include password change, profile update, and discussion topic subscription. Topic Structure Topics are organized as follows: Conference --> Forums --> Topics For example, a Conference called Water Quality Trading Discussion Board has been set up on the ETN Discussion Board. Under this Conference, there are also 6 forums established by the Discussion Board moderator based on anticipated categories of water quality trading related topics. Under these forums, users are welcome to start a topic or reply to a topic after registration. Attachments Not Allowed To greatly minimize the risk of spreading viruses or other malicious software and to optimize server load, the ETN Discussion Board does not accept attachments. For legitimate files users would like to share with the public, please send the files to the Discussion Board moderater @ afang@envtn.org. Users can alert the moderator of inappropriate topics/messages and plain spams (see Rules below) by clicking the "Alert" link at the end of each topic/message. The ETN and the Discussion Board webmaster reserves the right to moderate discussions sent to this electronic bulletin board in order to keep them focused on the mission of the Discussion Board and ETN. Towards that end, the following Rules apply: 1. All posted messages must be directly related to the primary purposes of the Discussion Board (see Purposes above). 2. Review your messages before posting them. Keep them professional and polite. Remember: "THINK" before "SEND." 3. Include meaningful topic headers. 4. While the expression of opposing views is a hallmark of useful discussion, never use the Discussion Board to send negative messages. Messages should conform to professional standards and ethics. Personal attacks, sweeping generalizations, conspiracy theories, and unsubstantiated accusations or claims are some of the things that have no place on the ETN Discussion Board. 5. Never send a message when you are angry or upset. Don't react to a flame or provocative message sent to the Discussion Board by sending one of your own back to the Discussion Board. If you feel that a message posted to the Discussion Board is inappropriate, you may alert (see Alert the Moderator above) the moderator on the Discussion Board or send an email message to afang@envtn.org. 6. Messages should be succinct. If the primary information resides on the Web, the message should be limited to a brief introduction or overview with a link to the Web page. 7. Each posted message should be limited to a single topic. 8. As a courtesy to your fellow subscribers, don't quote back long message strings. Make the effort to delete extraneous portions of ongoing topic threads. 9. If your message has inadvertently offended other subscribers, post a brief apology for the unintended impact of that message along with any clarifying remarks. 10. Be patient with inexperienced list users and novices to topics discussed on the Discussion Board. 11. Give senders the benefit of the doubt. Note: The Discussion Board moderator reserves the right to remove user accounts deemed having violated one or more of the Rules. © 2003-2006, Environmental Trading Network Website
