Little Miami River, Ohio

The east fork of the Little Miami River in Clermont County is situated in an area experiencing significant pressure from development. Several wastewater treatment plants are at or near their respective discharge permit limit for phosphorus. The river is also meeting the states aquatic life use designation of an exceptional warm water habitat.

Clermont County is an U.S. EPA Project XL (Environmental Excellence and Leadership) site. The goal of the project is to find a way to balance increasing permitted discharge limits and maintaining water quality standards. At this time, the project is still in the planning and discussion stage.
